SUSAN G. KOMEN AFFILIATES IN AUSTIN AND EAST CENTRAL TEXAS JOIN FORCES AND EXPAND MISSION AREA TO INCREASE LOCAL IMPACT

Dear Susan G. Komen® Supporter, We have some exciting news to share with you as we begin 2019 and ask ourselves how we can be More Than Pink.

After careful research, thoughtful consideration and support from our local board of directors, and the guidance from Susan G. Komen, we are excited to announce that Susan G. Komen Austin® and Susan G. Komen® East Central Texas are joining forces to become Susan G. Komen® Greater Central and East Texas—expanding our mission impact area from 5 counties and 17 respectively, to a total of 58.

The expanded affiliate, which will have offices in Austin, Waco and Tyler, will incorporate current staff, volunteer leadership, grant-making relationships and fundraising capacities of both former affiliates. While the name has changed, the services offered and annual events hosted by each former affiliate will remain the same.

By joining forces while maintaining local offices, outreach and events, we will increase our mission impact on the fight against breast cancer. We will now be serving 4.9 million people across 58 counties. Over 18% of them are uninsured and of those, 55,813 women will get breast cancer in their lifetime. Now, thanks to your support, we will be able to continue delivering on our promise—to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
